With the exhibition project ACTS, choreographer Emanuele Soavi opens a communicative and aesthetic space for statements, images, reflections on how the current pandemic affects movement and body artists from all over the world. First and foremost, it carries forward the idea of cooperation that has been central to the label ‘incompany’ from the very beginning. Exclusively digital in the first phase , it offered a platform for artistic dialogue on a national and international level, opening up a new, almost utopian performative space that made it possible to express oneself beyond the empty stage surfaces and re-enter the scene: The photographic paper. In this way, ACTS not only reflects this unique time, but also adds a piece of imperishability to the transience of its own art form.
What and how diverse are the possibilities we have to express our artistic-performative “working life” in this time of restrictions? Starting from this question, Soavi has asked all invited artists to conduct a very personal research, divided into two phases.
In the first phase, a private VENUE-VIVANT is staged in an everyday, imaginary or neutral landscape with one’s own body, reflecting the experiences, emotions, doubts, opinions, needs and events that have come to light in the last months, and recorded with the help of the art of photography.
In the second phase, a specific text is created that can describe or explain the self-portrait. Then, by removing some parts of this text, the remaining keywords become the only description we can still see. As if they were remnants of lost, past and found documents, which after centuries, due to the passage of time, return to light incomplete, showing only a part of the original.
