Within the framework of “NEUSTART.KULTUR. Hilfsprogramm Tanz”, an initiative of the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and Media, the non-profit cultural organisation Bureau Ritter strengthens with TANZPAKT RECONNECT the structures for professional work in dance, which have been weakened by the Corona crisis. Emanuele Soavi incompany was selected for this purpose with its concept VOR ORT und UNTERWEGS (In Situ and On the Move).
It included the expansion of co-operations with large music institutions, orchestras and electronic composers and the development of a repertoire strategy in Cologne as a basis for sustainable production.
New partnerships for new artistic formats were established at local, regional and international level. The development and implementation of mediating, participatory formats across generations, opened up new approaches to contemporary dance in general and the artistic work of the ensemble in particular. In order to achieve these goals, ESincompany invested primarily in the expansion of the personnel structure in order to be able to sustainably strengthen the artistic quality, the visibility, the exploitation and the networks.
Co-operations with music institutions, orchestras and electronic composers …
… On September 05, 2021, FLUT – a co-production with the Cologne Opera, the Duisburg Philharmonics, the composers Wolfgang Voigt and Stefan Bohne came to its world premiere.
… New projects with the Duisburg Philharmonics (2023), the Cologne Philharmonic and the Lautten Compagney Berlin (2024) were initiated and prepared.
Repertory …
… Planned to kick off the new repertory line in Cologne, the revival of AUREA Installation on April 17 and 18, 2021, quickly turned into a film for the TanzFaktur digital stage.
… The second repertory project at TanzFaktur was ATLAS 3 – Blu Blu Blu in October 2021 and March 2022.
… As part of the anniversary ‘Emanuele Soavi incompany – 10 years of dance’ in Autmn 2022, the first part of FLUT was presented in a new version in the double evening GEZEITEN. Guest performances took place in Padova and Venice.
… All preparations for a successful continuation in 2023 were made.
New partnerships – new formats …
… ACTS – a virtual exhibition project From March 5 to April 18, 2021, this international network project, created with the support of FREIRAUM/Düsseldorf, reached around 10,000 visitors. The analog premiere took place in November in the exhibition hall of the Alte Feuerwache.
… In order to break new ground in international exchange, together with the Ehrenfeldstudios ESincompany succeeded in connecting with Italian ensembles and producers as well as other partners in Amsterdam, Barcelona, Birmingham, Geneva, Leipzig, Marseille and Tipperary in the project 18M8L, based on the Italian funding program ‘Boarding Pass Plus 2021/22’. In addition to regular digital encounters, a two-day meeting was held in Cologne on April 21 and 22, 2022 at the invitation of ESincompany and the Ehrenfeldstudios. A final meeting with all partners took place in Rome on September 18, 2022.
… From 2022, the cooperation with TanzFaktur in Cologne is intensified in the frame of TANZPAKT – Stadt Land Bund.
… Together with the district of Miltenberg as co-operation partner, Emanuele Soavi incompany developed an artistic and educational concept for the German Federal Cultural Foundation’s Tanzland 2022-2025 program and was ultimately selected for it.
… With the new partners Goethe-Institut Paris and Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, a parcours format was developed for the World Heritage Days 2023.
… A research and rehearsal residency at the Studio Chorégraphique Chapelle Sainte-Marie in Annonay/France of the new partner Compagnie La Baraka was prepared for January 2023.
Development and implementation of mediating, participatory formats …
… Emanuele Soavi incompany has been a member of the Cologne Ehrenfeldstudios since January 2021. Here the studio doors will be opened regularly during the research and rehearsal phases in order to make the creative processes tangible and to provide exchange.
… Laboratory on May 22nd and 23rd, 2021 in the Ehrenfeldstudios. In preparation for the production FLUT and the accompanying mediation formats, Emanuele Soavi and the sound artists / composers Johannes Malfatti and Stefan Bohne, together with dancers and musicians, questioned their own working methods and brought contemporary dance, electronic and instrumental music into a performative dialogue.
… The creation phase had been accompanied by a digital rehearsal diary, which is published in parts in the social media and offers extensive material for the final documentation.
… Accompanying the new productions GEZEITEN and ORACEL, physical introductions and workshops for professionals and amateurs were designed. A total of 30 mediating events were realized in two years.
… Together with the cultural office of the city of Krefeld and the Werkhaus e.V., Emanuele Soavi incompany developed the TOWARDS project, which focuses on the interlocking of educational work and professional artistic work in contemporary dance. In the years 2022 and 2023, communication strategies will be developed, tested and evaluated in a wide variety of formats.
